Cybercrime and digital security: INTERPOL needs your input
At INTERPOL, we are embarking on a programme of innovation that in 2014 will see the opening of the INTERPOL Global Complex for Innovation (IGCI) in Singapore.
This initiative aims to build capacity, increase operational capabilities, deliver innovative technical solutions and further develop international partnerships for the benefit of all INTERPOL member countries. It represents our vision to embark on cutting-edge research and development for the identification of crimes and criminals.
Global response to cybercrime
A primary operational focus will be on Innovation, Research and Digital Security (IRDS). The abuse of communication technologies such as the Internet are often complex and global in nature and require an equally complex and global response.
We are committed to improving the investigative capacity of police around the globe and bridging the gap between those who hold the information and those who need it. But we cannot achieve this alone.
We recognize the importance of incorporating the feedback, ideas and concerns of our partners in industry, law enforcement and beyond.
As such, we are running a broad consultation process to help to find innovative ways to deal with the complex political, practical and legal issues surrounding cybercrime and digital security.
As part of this listening process, we are inviting our partners, collaborators and diverse stakeholders to provide their views on the digital security initiative of the Global Complex, in particular:
- What would you like to see INTERPOL do in the areas of cybercrime and research?
- What role can INTERPOL play in making your networks and information systems more secure, robust and safe from harm?
- Is there an issue you think INTERPOL can better address to support its members through innovative thinking or partnerships?
- What can INTERPOL do to facilitate the identification and prosecution of cybercriminals?
We would be delighted to hear from you on this important matter.
Please use the online form to send us your comments and thoughts by 31 December 2011 so we can incorporate your ideas to make this new departure a relevant and resounding success.
