INTERPOL Executive Committee unanimously endorses creation of INTERPOL Foundation for a Safer World

Lebanon’s Elias Murr to become inaugural President of the Board of the Foundation


CARTAGENA DE INDIAS, Colombia – INTERPOL’s Executive Committee has unanimously endorsed the creation of the INTERPOL Foundation for a Safer World. It will open its first offices in Geneva and Paris in 2014.

The decision came ahead of INTERPOL’s 82nd General Assembly currently underway in Colombia.

Mr Elias Murr, the former Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Minister of Defense of Lebanon, will become President of the Board of the INTERPOL Foundation for a Safer World for a seven-year term.

Mr Murr will be in charge of promoting and reinforcing INTERPOL’s strategic priorities in the fight against terrorism and transnational organized crime, and of supporting INTERPOL's efforts to create a safer and more secure world.

INTERPOL thanks Mr Murr for his commitment to INTERPOL and its vision of a safer world through enhanced international police cooperation worldwide.
