Switzerland requests INTERPOL alert for escaped rapist

LYON, France – At the request of Swiss authorities INTERPOL has issued a Red Notice, or internationally wanted persons alert, for a convicted rapist after the body of his therapist was discovered in woods near Geneva.

Fabrice Anthamatten, aged 39, who has been convicted of rape in France and Switzerland, has not been seen since leaving the La Pâquerette correctional facility with his  therapist Aline Morel Sulc on Thursday 12 September in a white Citroën Berlingo. Its registration number is GE 719 149.

Anthamatten should be considered as dangerous and anyone who believes they may have seen this man should not approach him, but report his sighting to their local police or the Canton Police of Geneva, Switzerland, via telephone  +41 22 427 81 11 or email   criminelle@police.ge.ch.

INTERPOL’s Command and Coordination Centre at its General Secretariat headquarters in Lyon is liaising closely with its National Central Bureau in Bern to ensure that any information on the escaped prisoner is quickly dealt with.

A Red Notice can be requested by any INTERPOL member country and is issued by INTERPOL’s General Secretariat headquarters. It is placed in INTERPOL’s central database which can be queried by any of the world police body’s 190 member countries, and can also be added to foreign law enforcement databases and border lookout systems.
