Crime Scene Awareness skills at the fingertips of Fiji police

SUVA, Fiji – Developing Crime Scene Awareness was the focus of a training course for police in Fiji, organized by the INTERPOL Forensic Support and Specialized Technical Databases unit.

Hosted at the Fiji Police Academy in Suva, a total of 20 officers from Fiji and Nauru took part in the five-day course (17-21 October) to raise awareness about the entire forensic process including the role of crime scene investigation as well as the nature and types of physical evidence and the necessary protocols when dealing with evidence.

Officially opened by Fiji’s Assistant Commissioner Ravi Naranpin, the course also gave the participants hands-on experience in a number of disciplines including fingerprint retrieval and general evidence preservation procedures.
